11th Birthday, 50th Birthday....BIRTHDAYS BIRTHDAYS BIRTHDAYS

I need to start this posting with a hilarious picture of Kyra. She had a bath the other night and her hair was out of control!!!! This photo doesn't even give it justice---it was SOOOO funny! She is such a cutie and I love her so much.

In my last post I said I would post some photos of Cortlynn's birthday; so here they are. This is the birthday cake I made for her. She likes zebra print but prefers colors rather than the typical black/white. I went for a green/black design. The inside was also zebra print but the picture doesn't show it very good. The bottom layer-was a better zebra print. It definitely took some time but her friends were pretty impressed. Too bad half of her friends thought the icing was inedible. The table decorations were made out of dollar store table covers. I thought they turned out really pretty (especially since it cost me maybe 5 dollars) I'm all about saving money-even for birthday parties. ;-)

She had 5 girls come over for a three (night) party and they were OUT OF CONTROL! Tristan and Devin left the house to spend some quality guy time at an arcade and I think they were happy to be gone. Cortlynn had fun and I think the girls did too.
The balloons actually glowed in the dark. They didn't photograph well but they looked so cool. The chair decor was also made out of dollar store table covering. Not too shabby. (I'll be ready to decorate for my sister Nicole's wedding in a few years) ;-)

Cortlynn's birthday was actually on Monday and Devin worked a late shift so he came home for his lunch break for present opening time. She loved her presents but really loved the Breaking Dawn gifts (movie, hat, poster) For her birthday dinner, I took her to Pizza Pie Cafe. YUM!!!! Who can frown at a tastee Oreo Dessert Pizza. It may sound gross-but if you tried it you would LOVE it... (just ask my friend Sabrina)

The night before her birthday I went up to her room and "trapped" her in. I used crepe paper and balloons. On her birthday morning she didn't know what to think and Tristan LOVED it. I'm thinking this is a good tradition to start.

This week was also a big week for Devin. He had his 50th birthday. We celebrated at our house on Thursday (his actual birthday). We had gifts and he's not a huge cake eater so we had ice cream. I put candles in the ice cream and had a nice evening.

For a few weeks Devin's sister and I have been planning a surprise party for him. I came up with an excuse to get him to her house on Saturday. I told him the we were dropping off the kids and we would go to Idaho Falls for a date. He didn't have any idea until we got to the house and saw all of the cars. We went inside the house and his parents and sisters were there dressed in black standing around a table "mourning". It was too cute. Tiffany read a few memories out loud while the other sisters "cried" out loud. I don't think Devin knew what to think.

We had a few gifts for him---a 50's hat, a dog with birthday greetings written on it from all of us, and I gave him a box full of gag gifts from the dollar store (vitamins, laxatives, hemmoroidal cream, sexual enhancement pills, reading glasses, a pill box, and a few more items. I'm always amazed at what you can find at the dollar store. ;-)

His sister made a lovely cake and placed candles on it that would re lite. There was smoke everywhere---Tristan and Kyra didn't know what to think of all the smoke. Too cute.

This photo is Devin with his new fishing hat and reading glasses. He really looks like his dad in this photo.

Overall I think he had fun and I hope he wasn't disappointed that we didn't go on a date. We rarely go on dates; it's difficult when you have children----so I think we will actually try to go on March 23 to the "Hunger Games"-- Or at least I will-not sure if he wants to see this movie. We'll see.

On Saturday we had family pictures. Friday night I was putting curlers in Cortlynn's hair and Kyra wanted one in her hair. Of course I had to get a picture of her first curler. She is so cute. (check out the Star Wars shirt she's wearing. This shirt has been a night shirt for all three children. gotta love Star Wars)
