Pre-Term Labor Days-June 27 and June 28 (the COMPLETE post)

When I went to bed Friday night I was experiencing contractions-enough I began to time them. Well, I was so tired I fell asleep.  They must not have been that bad because I didn't have hard ones until 7:30am.  I stayed in bed for a while-got up to use the restroom and noticed another labor system.  I decided at that point I needed to take a shower, pack my hospital bag, paint my toenails (yes, I still am able to do that),help the kids pack their bags for Bear Lake, have Cortlynn help me put laundry away, and make sure everything is ready.  When Devin got home I told him what was going on and than told my parents.  I had about 5 reports for work I had to finish and submit so I worked on those before calling my doctor. My mom was NOT thrilled with that decision.  When I called the doctor, I was instructed to go to the hospital.  When we left-everyone else left for Bear Lake.  I was a little say seeing my kids leave-but I know they will have so much fun.  We arrived at the hospital and was directed to an actual room, not a "closet type room" we had with the Brynlee fiasco.  Devin was able to get a few photos of me in the hospital gown before I was checked.  Oh yeah-I'm a lot of sexy!

I may be a lot of sexy, but if you look close-you can see that I'm an idiot and didn't put my arm thru the gowns arm hole.  Duh
I continued having contractions, had an IV placed, was checked, and waited to see the Dr.  He came in (from the golf course) and checked me.  He also did a quick ultra sound to check the positions of the babies. SURPRISE-Baby B flipped and both are head down.  I sure am praying they stay that way.  After his visit-he wanted to work on stopping the contractions and monitor me overnight.  Every day the babies stay in the womb is 2 days out of NICU.  They gave me a shot which caused the contractions to stop for about 2 hours. They started up again, so I got another shot as well as another steroid shot (this would be steroid shot #3-better to be safe than sorry)  This time the shot really didn't make a difference.  The contractions were about 15 minutes apart.  I was moved to a more comfortable room for my overnight stay and there I had dinner and an ambien.  You would think I would crash and sleep--nope. With the steroid shot side effect of sleeplessness, contractions every 15 minutes, and having to go to the bathroom constantly since baby A is on my bladder-I got a total of maybe 20 minutes of sleep all night.

Around 5:00am the contractions began to come every 5-7 minutes and were quite intense.  Some even brought me to tears they hurt so bad.  The nurse checked me about 2 hours later and there was NO CHANGE!!!  Being so tired and full of emotion--I didn't know what to think.  I wanted the babies to stay in but having such strong contractions for 2 hours with no change was a little hard to hear, pretty discouraging.  I was able to eat breakfast and the Dr stopped in to check.  He gave me a little pep talk and ordered a different prescription to see if that would help as well as an ultra sound to make sure of the position of babies.  This prescription seemed to work and the ultrasound confirmed both babies are head down; for now.  Since the contractions were somewhat under control-Dr Hall gave me an option to stay in the hospital or go home on bed rest and hope the babies stay in for a little longer.  Wednesday would be 35 weeks.  Of course I chose home.  Granted we are 45 minutes away-but I prefer my own space and my own bed.

I'm definitely tired and worn out---last night I had some pretty good contractions again but they dissipated around 12:30 and I was able to get some sleep.  The house is completely empty and quiet yet I still woke up 9am.  How unfair is that.?

34 Weeks and counting

This week I've officially made it to 34 weeks.  After my doctor's appointment on Tuesday-I may just make it to 40 weeks!!!!  No changes-heartbeats are great, weight is great, and I am told over and over again how I'm made to have twins.  In the last couple of weeks I've experienced pretty painful contractions, swollen feet, and just being uncomfortable overall---At my appointment I was measuring 44 weeks.

Baby Shower

Just a few weeks  ago I sat down in front of my neighbors at Church and the neighbor lady asked me when my baby was due.  I told her the date the twin girls were supposed to arrive and she looked at me in shock.  she hadn't heard the news.  At that moment she tells me that she will be throwing me a baby shower.  I didn't think too much of it-until a week later when I receive a text asking if this date/time would work for the shower.  The shower was 2 weeks ago in my neighbors front yard.  She decorated with pink balloons, folded fancy napkins, made a chicken/walnut salad, mini pink cupcakes, and flavored water.  She actually hand delivered invites to all the neighbors as well as every single women in the ward.  I was surprised by how many wonderful neighbors and friends showed up.  Based on the gift list my visiting teacher kept-there were 32 women.  I really don't do well with crowds, but this was fun.  I received so many cute outfits, diapers, wipes, gift cards, and so many other items a mom that is expecting twins needs.  There are still ladies that weren't able to attend stop by and drop off gifts.  So much help and support from people I don't really know other than in passing at church.

This was a diaper cake the hostess and her daughter -in- law made.

This photo shows the items I received at the shower.  It does not include the items I have receied since the shower.

The photo below is just a random photo of the girls asleep downstairs after a hard day of playing.  They may fight a lot-but at the end of the day they really do love each other.

32 weeks

Here is the lovely photo of me at 32 weeks.  I think I'm looking a little tired, which is true because I AM tired.  Sleep doesn't happen and neither does a nap.  Uncomfortable is really an understatement.  I am now lucky enough to experience terrible heartburn. I also have a condition where little red pin head spots pop up on my body, "bubble up" after a while, and than will pop and bleed.  These little spots bleed forever!!! and than I am left with nasty looking scars.  My doctor told me they should stop once the pregnancy is over. I hope so.  The last few nights I have had swelling in my lower legs and feet.  YEAH!!!  So excited for that.  Beginning this next week, I will be seeing my doctor weekly and having weekly non-stress tests-with ultra-sounds as needed.  I'm getting a little closer to being more prepared for the girls to get here.  I am in need of a dresser and asked DEvin to paint an old dresser we have in the garage.  He took this last week off to "help" and after fishing and doing Man things for several days finally began working on it.  I went outside and saw that he decided to strip off all the previous paint.  Needless to say-this project will never be done and I've decided to have Kyra and Brynlee share a dresser and the twins will share Brynlee's dresser.  AAAHHHH sometimes men really drive me crazy!~!  He did get his pertussis vaccine yesterday---and yes, his arm was hurting so he had to rest last night.  REALLY?!?!?!?!?  Another confirmation to me that if men were to suffer thru PMS, pregnancy, and giving birth----civilization would be dead!

Everything Dance

With being pregnant with twins it has been so hard for me to keep up with everything else in life on this blog.  We have had such a busy year with dance and we are still not quite done--a little over a week left and than we will have 2 months off.
Tristan took both ballet and tap this year and really excelled at both!  He is such a cute performer and ALL the girls love him-especially the older girls.  He is going to be such a lady killer with a lot of girl dancer friends.

Isn't he so cute?  Tristan and Ian are best friends!!!
Of course Cortlynn is a beauty!  She did an amazing job in both Swan Lake as well as her recital performances.  It's amazing how much she has grown in her talent.
Kyra is our little ballerina.  She LOVED her weekly class and was so excited for the recital. Unfortunately-the rest of her class had stage fright and didn't want to perform so they just stood there---Kyra stood there too, with a scowl on her face!

Brynlee wanted to be a part of the dance photos too.  Looks like she will be in dance in just a few months.

Kyra was so excited to get flowers after her recital performance.

Tristan was AWESOME in his tap performance.  The only boy and he stood out for just being awesome!

30 Weeks

I've made it to 30 weeks and am definitely feeling it.  I haven't gained a ton of weight-but what I have gained is all in my tummy area so my balance is off.  At my ultrasound last week Baby A is still head down but Baby B flipped and is currently breach. (I'm pretty sure I know exactly when she flipped-during sacrament 2 weeks ago.  My entire right side of my tummy rose up and shifted.  Cortlynn even saw it and asked what was going on)  Hopefully she flips again because I'm pretty terrified of a C-Section.  I've been pretty fortunate not to get a lot of stretch marks but the veins on my belly are nasty.  We call them "Bella Veins". If you're familiar with the movie Twilight you know what I'm talking about.  Not a lot of new symptoms-pretty much the same.  Except the other night I could not lift my legs more than a couple inches off the floor.  So walking, going up the stairs, getting into bed, moving in bed, and even driving the next day was almost an impossibility.  The pain felt like I was breaking in two.  SOOOOOO PAINFUL.  I continue to have Braxton Hix contractions and some are pretty intense-but at my appointment last Tuesday-nothing had changed.

28 Weeks and Counting

Here are the Week 28 photos.  Pretty much the same pregnancy "issues" as before--tired, uncomfortable, slight swelling, lots of back pain, waddling, can't see my feet, my pregnancy pants are falling off b/c my belly is too big, and my hair and nails are growing SO fast!
A few new things going on: I've had Braxton Hix contractions daily--A LOT of them.  Some are quite painful. The babies are very active-and my belly is constantly moving and rolling.  My hair is no longer gray--Nope, it is now coming in WHITE!!!!!  WHITE!~So gross.

Waist-43 1/2 inches

WHITE hair---this twin pregnancy is really aging me.  ;-)
