Family Vacation---Day 1

Just a few weeks before our planned family vacation to Disneyland, Devin came home from work and informed me that he had to work most of that weekend when we were leaving--which meant we would have to leave later and drive straight thru to California (DON'T THINK SO), or come up with some other solution.  I thought about it and decided we should book Devin a flight to Las Vegas on the Sunday evening from Idaho Falls-and the kids and I would still leave on Saturday--meeting up with him in Vegas.

My parents stopped by our house on Friday and we took a short drive up to the high school to look at the Field of Heroes.  I know I've posted about this previously-but every time I go, I just think WOW.  Volunteers set it up just for Memorial Day weekend and it is a memorial for all of those that have been killed since the war in Iraq and Afghanistan began.  You don't know the magnitude until you see each cross with each soldiers name on it.  It really is a sombre place.

Saturday morning we woke up and packed up the car to leave.  Devin worked all night but was able to get home before we left.  I had Devin take a photo of us in front of the house right before we  left.  All smiles-

Still smiles in the car---but we were just at the gas station in Pocatello.
We made a stop in Salt Lake to visit Temple Square.  None of my children have been there and they were excited to get out of the car for a few minutes.  I tried, yes I really did try to get a photo of the kids in front of the statue-but NONE of them would cooperate.  Such stinkers.

It really ended up being a beautiful day to visit.  Tristan could have stayed longer, but I wanted to get to Provo at a decent time.  As soon as we parked in the hotel parking lot-I looked at Kyra and she had the "look".  The look of --oh no, I'm going to throw up---  NICE.  It was the one and only vomit episode of our journey.

Day 1-was successful and the kids actually slept very well.  I don't think Kyra moved at all and Brynlee was so quiet.  Maybe we should room with my parents more often.  I don't have any photos of Cortlynn because she went and hung out with Nicole at her apartment.  We won't discuss how late they stayed up.  ;-/

Copellia, Recitals, Last Day of School 2014

It sure has been a busy month.  Both Cortlynn and Tristan were in the ballet Copellia and did such a wonderful job.  They must get their dance talent from me.   Once Copellia was over, they finished up work on their recital pieces.  Cortlynn danced in 3 numbers and Tristan danced in 1.  I just can't get over how beautiful both children did.  Tristan smiled the entire time and is quite upset that he doesn't go back to class until September.  Cortlynn has a couple of weeks off before her 3 week (5 days 5+hrs a day) summer intensive program and her final performance.

Brynlee loved Cortlynn's sparkly jazz costume.  She actually wore a silver one since she had a solo and ended up being the "focus" of the dance.  I unfortunately didn't get a photo of her in that dress.  oops.
Kyra had to get her ballet shoes on and dance with her brother.

Tristan and I participated in the 100 mile club at school this year.  The two of us would walk after school and at special family nights; trying to get to our goal of 100 miles.  By the end of the year-Tristan had 83 miles and I ended with 102.  (parents could walk at anytime.  The kids could only walk at a school function)  The photo below is Tristan at the awards ceremony.

Happy 1st Birthday Brynlee Onyx

I honestly can't believe it has been a year since little Brynlee came into our lives.  What a blessing she is and I'm so happy she's my baby.  What a sweet, special, smart, spunky cute girl.  She may be 1 but she acts older and wants to keep up with her siblings.  She was an early walker, climbs our stairs, understands conversations, plays hide and seek, LOVES to play with her babies and rock them to sleep, and is just a pure joy to be around.  She doesn't sleep much-but I've had 14 years of not sleeping since being pregnant with Cortlynn-so that is nothing new.   We celebrated her birthday a week early since my sister and her friend was here, and Devin's parents came down as well.  We had ranch chicken, funeral potatoes, cake, and ice cream.  Brynlee wasn't sure about the gifts but that was alright, Kyra's excitement was enough for the both of them.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYNLEE!

On her actual birthday, we opened a few more gifts with the "Frozen" CD being the favorite.

Just an update of the kids.

I swear I'm always playing catch up.  I just can't stay on top of everything--this blog being one of them.  I've just thrown pictures together and will make a few comments.
They had "mustache day" at school.  I don't know why--and of course by the time I found out there were 0 mustaches in town.  I decided to make him one.  Too funny.

Tristan's first and second lost tooth.

St. Patrick's Day dinner that consisted of Bangers, mash, and green lemonade.

My cute little Brynlee.

Cheese-----

More teeth have been lost.

I tell Cortlynn almost daily to smile at the camera instead of her goofy faces or I will just post them.  Guess what her response to that was.

Tristan is just so handsome.

Brynlee was so tired the other night that she fell asleep on top of her basket of toys.  If you look close-you can see a stream of drool on the bottom picture.
I told Kyra that we would buy her a tutu if she started using the big girl potty.  Yipee -she is.  Every day she tells me "I'm potty trained mama.  You so proud?!"
